Dear Colleagues,
We are in the process of organizing the BIOTECH METU 2009 to commemorate the 20th year of the establishment of the Biotechnology Graduate Program at METU as the first of its kind in Turkey. The venue is the Campus of METU in Ankara and dates are 27‐30 September 2009.
METU, as you may well know, is the leading technical university in Turkey and also in the Middle East and the Balkans. It is also very well known in Europe and the rest of the international arena as a first class institution. The Biotechnology Graduate Program was established to train researchers and academics to increase the level of understanding and use of the biological entities in engineering processes. Over the last 20 years, 170 MSc and 46 PhD degrees were granted and the early graduates now hold senior positions in various institutions in Turkey and abroad. We have decided to commemorate the 20th year of the establishment of this Program with an international symposium which we called BIOTECH METU 2009. Since this program is based on the support of 5 departments, namely the Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Food Engineering, the topics we would like to have covered in this conference should reflect these foundations and the trends in this quite broad field.
We would like to invite you to our meeting and have you join us celebrate our 20th year with an exciting scientific and social meeting.
